Three years after 'Extreme Cold Weather' we find Messiah progressing in terms of production, precision and overall coherence. This four song, 18-minute EP starts off with a brief ambient introduction: Some church bell type keyboards and some sort of guttural whispering before... Another minute or two of similar ambience to start off the epic 8-minute title track, which serves as centerpiece of the EP. Crunchy, barrelling, riff-jammed death/thrash ensues. Sporting a crisp and potent guitar sound nearly unrivaled in the realm of death metal. Pyschomorphia is a juggernaut of a song and easily thier most impressive piece up to this point. Another minute or two of ambience fades into the final two tracks of the EP: "Right for Unright" and "M.A.N.I.A.C.". Both give a pretty accurate preview of what is to come on Messiah's classic 1991 album, 'Choir of Horrors'. Stylish, riff-intensive death metal with heavy thrash leanings. Highly recommended for fans of both death and thrash metal.
